dry skin care

With the cold of winter, our skin is put to the test!

Even when wearing thick gloves and socks, it dries out, cracks… and it’s impossible to nourish it sufficiently to provide lasting hydration.

At Nandara, we know that it’s the quality of our dry skin care products that makes all the difference. It’s simple: no matter how much you moisturise your skin every day, if you don’t choose the right product, there’s no point.

So, to help you combat the cold of winter while looking after your skin, we’ve put together a small selection of dry skin care products that can make all the difference.

Discover the 6 must-have skincare products for this winter!

How can you look after your dry skin in winter?

In winter, the body’s skin is particularly put to the test by the cold, wind and heating, which dry out the epidermis.

As well as choosing the right products, to look after your skin you need to prepare it properly and moisturise it regularly.

Start with a gentle exfoliation once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and encourage cell renewal.

Opt for an exfoliant made from natural ingredients such as sugar or crushed apricot kernels, which are gentle on sensitive skin.

After showering, immediately apply a moisturising or nourishing treatment to seal in the moisture. Balms rich in shea butter, sweet almond oil or cocoa butter are particularly suitable for this period.

On a daily basis, even if it’s tempting, remember to opt for lukewarm rather than hot showers, as water that’s too hot can dry out the skin even more.

And above all, drink enough water! Even though we tend to feel less thirsty when it’s cold, it’s just as important as dry skin care.

The best dry skin care products for winter

Now that you’ve adopted a healthy lifestyle, all you have to do is choose the right products to nourish your skin.

That’s why Nandara has selected 6 dry skin care products that will delight even the most stubborn crocodile skin!

1 – A natural vegetable oil

First of all, you need to know that as well as choosing the right dry skin care product, you also need to apply it correctly.

So it’s not just a question of applying a thick layer of moisturiser: you need to take the time to massage it into the skin so that it penetrates properly.

That’s why most of the products in our small selection of dry skin care products are massage products!

These products are designed to be massaged into the skin, helping it to absorb all the nutrients they contain.

So let’s start with a vegetable oil: as you may already know, the skin absorbs natural products more easily. Nandara therefore recommends that you opt for a natural plant oil, such asapricot kernel oil.

This oil is rich in nutrients and essential vitamins to help hydrate the skin. Its slightly thick texture allows it to glide pleasantly over the skin, while nourishing it effectively.

2 – A cocktail of massage oils

Among all dry skin care products, massage oil is a true benchmark. In fact, the texture of massage oils allows them to be worked on for a long time, so that they penetrate the skin thoroughly.

So, if you’re going to treat yourself to a massage oil, why not opt for a cocktail of massage oils? Take Nandara’s beautiful coconut-scented natural massage oil, for example. Much more than just a treatment for dry skin, this massage oil is made up of several oils:

  • Coconut oil
  • Grape-seed oil
  • Rapeseed oil
  • Olive oil
  • Castor oil
  • Almond oil

This clever combination provides your skin with all the nutrients it needs, for total absorption. After a treatment like this, cracks disappear in a flash!

3 – A massage cream

Of course, the rather ‘greasy‘ texture of the oil can be a problem for some people. When you’re nourishing your skin in winter, you don’t necessarily have time for a self-massage!

If this is your case, you can choose between massage oil or cream.

The massage cream has a smoother texture, with a slightly more watery side that makes a change from massage oil.

If you don’t have the time to massage with an oil to nourish the skin’s surface, you can opt for a massage cream.

And here again, you’re spoilt for choice! If you’re going to nourish your skin, you might as well take full advantage of it to look after yourself.

Nandara offers a range of specialised massage creams, such as the cellulite-stopping massage cream or the sports recovery massage cream.

From muscle recovery to combating the appearance of cellulite, taking care of yourself has never been easier!

4 – Massage butter

But massage cream, with its rather watery texture, is not suitable for all the needs of dry skin.

If you notice that your skin is very thirsty for moisture but you don’t want the greasy texture of a massage oil, you can also choose a massage butter.

Massage butter is like solidified massage oil. It melts when it comes into contact with the heat of the skin, which means you can control the amount of product you use perfectly.

For even more effective muscle relaxation, you can treat yourself to a CBD massage butter. And if you’re looking for something different, why not indulge in the fragrant beauty of Monoi massage butter?

5 – A nourishing scrub

As well as moisturising, looking after your skin also means helping it to renew itself. And for that, there’s nothing better than a body scrub once or twice a week!

When choosing your body scrub, make sure it is exfoliating but also nourishing.

Because it’s not just a question of removing dead skin cells and exfoliating pores: it’s also important to nourish the skin so as not to damage it. Some scrubs, for example, contain a little vegetable oil to moisturise the skin after exfoliation.

6 – A good body soap

Finally, the last dry skin care product to choose in winter is an unsuspected one: body soap. Against all expectations, some soaps have a tendency to dry out the skin and be too aggressive.

A quality soap must not attack the hydrolipidic film, the skin’s fine natural protective barrier that keeps it hydrated.

Avoid industrial soaps containing sulphates or aggressive detergents, which tend to remove the skin’s natural oils, causing tightness and dryness.

Choose cold-saponified soap, a traditional process that preserves glycerine, a powerful moisturising agent.

What’s more, a good soap is often enriched with vegetable oils(olive, coconut, shea) or natural butters, which nourish and soothe the skin.

For example, superfatted soaps, formulated with a surplus of unsaponified oil, offer extra protection by leaving a nourishing film after rinsing.

For sensitive or very dry skin, opt for soaps that are fragrance-free or enriched with soothing ingredients such as oatmeal or donkey milk.

And above all, check the composition! A natural or organic soap, without colourings or chemical additives, is always a safe choice.

Dry skin care: opt for quality for winter!

Nourishing your skin in winter means adopting a whole range of rituals. As well as choosing the right skincare products for dry skin, you also need to focus on regular maintenance: exfoliation, moisturising, warm showers… It’s all about adopting good habits!

With the right products and the right reflexes, you’ll see fast, long-lasting results. Your skin will thank you!
